PROPERTY Description

Welcome to Cypress Point. Get away from it all in this remote, magical location along the banks of the historic Withlacoochee River. This two bedroom, two bath home is newly remodeled with careful attention to retain its old Florida character.

Cypress Point is just six miles from Dunnellon by car or by boat, but as you drive in you will see right away that its seclusion sets it apart from everywhere else. The cabin is situated in a quiet neighborhood on a peaceful part of the Withlacoochee where you can experience a constant symphony of birds, crickets and bullfrogs while the visual wonder of the 6,000-acre undeveloped state park land across the river and the carefully tended butterfly garden add to your visual delight.

You just might want to spend the entire day outside, enjoying your morning coffee on the back porch while watching the waterfowl fly by, marveling at or reading among the hummingbirds and butterflies in the garden, or launching the kayaks or paddleboards for a spin in the river to see what lies around the next bend. Later, bring out your rod and reel and try landing the big one from the dock or just go out there after dinner to enjoy a glass of wine watching the moon rise among the stars.

Store your groceries in the huge refrigerator and cook your meals out on the grill or inside the fully updated kitchen. For recipe ideas, access Pinterest with the high speed satellite internet or just turn on the TV and watch the Cooking Channel. Otherwise, it’s time to unplug; your electronics won’t be needed. There is enough visual wonder for you to treasure at Cypress Point that you will forget that cell phone even exists! This is a place where you can completely relax in a rustic but modern home away from home.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How far is the Rainbow River?

A: The city of Dunnellon, home of the Rainbow River, is six miles by car from Cypress Point. If you decide to kayak to the Rainbow River from Cypress Point, it takes about three hours of moderate paddling each way.

Q: Can you swim in the Withlacoochee River?

A: Unless there is an advisory about bacteria (which would most likely close both rivers) you CAN swim in the Withlacoochee from the dock in the backyard. However, the water is not as clear as the Rainbow River.

Q: Can you tube down the Withlacoochee River?

A: There are not currently any outfitters running shuttles for tubing trips down the Withlacoochee River. If tubing is in your plans, there are two trip options on the Rainbow River, a two-hour float and a four-hour float.

Q: Are there kayaks? Paddleboards?

A: There are two kayaks, a single and a tandem, two paddleboards, and a canoe/rowboat. Life jackets and paddles are provided.

Q: Where is the nearest grocery store?

A: In Dunnellon you will find a Sav-A-Lot, Winn Dixie and Wal-Mart Supercenter.

Q: Where are the nearest restaurants?

A: For a delicious, plentiful breakfast or lunch, head east on C39 until you get to the stop sign and you will find Red’s right at the corner there. In Dunnellon are many restaurants including sports bars, pizza/Italian and fast food options. You’ll also find seafood, ice cream and even a cupcake bakery in Dunnellon.

Q: What else is there to do?

A: Enjoy shopping in Dunnellon’s downtown historic district. Bring your bikes and check out the many bike trails in the area. If it’s raining and you develop cabin fever, the bowling alley is a few miles south on Hwy 41. For updated event information, visit the tourism office in Dunnellon Plaza (north on Hwy 41). There is so much to do around here, especially if you like nature and history.

beautiful Florida cabin
we had a great time. the yard and house are full of character and the rope swing, kayak, and canoe on the river were so much fun. It's tucked away at the end of a nice quiet road too.
